A new survey shows that 65% of America’s restaurant operators embrace the practice of recycling and have recycling programs in place at their restaurants. Also, the research indicates
that six out of 10 consumers prefer to patronize restaurants that recycle, and more than half of consumers are willing to pay a little more at restaurants that recycle.
The National Restaurant Association, with support from Georgia-Pacific Professional, conducted the survey with a nationally representative sample of consumers and a nationwide sample of restaurant owners and operators.
“Sustainability is … the new way of doing business in the restaurant industry,” said Hudson Riehle, a senior vice president of the association. Recycling at the nation’s restaurants, he added, is here to stay.
