The single most important eco-friendly thing guests want from a hotel is a green certification such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or seal of approval from some other independent certifier. So says a new study of business and leisure travelers by the Center for Hospitality Research at Cornell University.

The nearly 600 survey participants were also in favor of refillable shampoo dispensers, energy-efficient light bulbs and towel and linen reuse policies. Guests also like key card systems that control energy use in hotel rooms.
Some respondents said they would pay more to stay in a “green” room.
