It took three years, but Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif., has earned Green Seal certification at the Bronze level. The hotel is the only Green Seal-certified hotel in the popular desert destination of Coachella Valley, which includes nearby Palm Springs.

The non-profit Green Seal “uses science-based programs to empower consumers, purchasers and companies to create a more sustainable world.” It lists about 120 hotels across the country which have earned bronze, silver or gold certification.
The hotel’s sustainability efforts include purchasing, waste minimization, energy efficiency, freshwater conservation and hazardous substance management.
