Let your iPhone be your guide to traveling green in Holland. A new iPhone app rates 4,200 sustainable tourism choices in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and 16 other cities throughout the Netherlands.
Included are fair trade shops, organic markets, yoga studios, aid organizations, vegetarian restaurants, eco-fashion shops, natural cosmetic shops, green hotels and more. Each venue is reviewed by local volunteers and students, then rated using three categories of sustainability—”good,” “green” and/or “great.” A rating of great indicates audited green practices that are made public.
The app features GPS tracking, maps and background information about sustainability and certifications.
A free version of this Netherlands green travel app from Good & Green Guides offers 10 percent of the rated content and all the functionality, including top 10 lists. Complete content is available for € 9.99 (about US$13).
