Sandals Negril first earned platinum certification in 2008 and earned re-certification this year. This is the inaugural platinum for Sandals Grande Riviera, which recently completed a nearly $60 million expansion and renovation.

“This achievement highlights the long-term commitment that Sandals Resorts has shown to the communities and environment of the Caribbean,” says EarthCheck CEO Stewart Moore. “They”re well ahead of most governments and industry players globally, and serve as a leader in the field of sustainable practices.”

In 2011 Sandals Resorts boosted its sustainability credentials by launching a new environmental management program called  Sandals Earthguard powered by EarthCheck.

“This is an incredible achievement for our company, and we look forward to continuing to expand our environmental efforts for years to come, ” says Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandal Resorts.
