Can a single Beijing hotel make the city’s air cleaner? Maybe not, but at least the guests of the Park Plaza Beijing West can breathe easier. Part of Carlson Hotels, the Park Plaza Beijing West has taken to improving the quality of indoor air at the hotel. At a cost of almost USD$1.5 million, a new filtration system ensures that air inside the hotel is always fresh, while reducing energy consumption throughout the hotel as well. The hotel has also focused on other earth-friendly issues such as energy and water conservation, recycling and reducing the use of harmful chemicals.
Along with the rest of the Carlson Hotels in the region, the Park Plaza Beijing West recently joined the EarthCheck Program, which is managed by EC3 Global, the world’s largest certifier of sustainable travel and tourism operators.
