They’re calling it Turning the Tide, an environmental summit expected to draw 450 environmentalists, entrepreneurs and activists from throughout the world. The theme: connect, collaborate, inspire and act. Just as impressive, this gathering will be hosted in the newest lodge in America’s national park system: The Lodge at Cavallo Point, named one of the Top 10 New American Landmarks by Travel+Leisure and a LEED Gold Certified eco-resort.
Turning the Tide will be held April 14–16. A sampling of session topics: “accelerating the sustainability wave,” “prescriptions to improve ocean health,” and “building next generation economies for earth’s eco-systems.”
Sponsored by the Institute at the Golden Gate, this green event features an A-list of participants, including famed health authorities Drs. Andrew Weil and Dean Ornish, Chez Panisse and Slow Food‘s Alice Waters, activist/actor Peter Coyote, Dr. Daphne Miller (The Jungle Effect), Stanford historian David Kennedy, Grist founder Chip Giller and Ocean Voyages Institute president Mary Crowley (whose Project Kaisei is studying ways to clean up the massive flotsam of plastic trash known as the North Pacific Gyre).
